Prof. Torsten Passie, MD, MA


Torsten is a specialist and professor of psychiatry and psychotherapy. He studied philosophy and sociology (M.A.) and human medicine. He received a doctorate in existential psychiatry and training at the University Clinic in Zurich and in the practice of Prof. Hanscarl Leuner, the leading expert in psycholytic therapy. He was awarded his habilitation in 2007 at the Hannover Medical School under Prof. H.M. Emrich on 'Psychophysical Correlates of Altered Awareness States'. He has conducted clinical studies with ketamine, psilocybin, LSD and MDMA and on otherwise altered states of consciousness. He has published internationally recognized work on the pharmacology of hallucinogenic substances. He is a board member of the Swiss Medical Association for Psycholytic Therapy (SÄPT). From 2012-2015, he was a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. His works include about 50 publications in scientific journals and various books.
